redd monochrome suit 2

I have finally found the perfect balance between blogging (after hours) and working. And I’m loving it. That feeling of content when you have everything under control is immensely therapeutic…let’s hope it lasts! On to this look of the day. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t look good in red. It’s such a non-discriminatory colour. It flatters everyone across all races. Hence, a red on red pairing for me was safe bet and a guaranteed win.

It’s funny how when you’re shooting outfits, people passing by think you’re a celeb who’s shooting their album cover or something. One guy was like,‘Where have I seen you before?’ And I said, ‘Boo, do you read ABY blog? Coz that’s the only place I’ve been.’

I also noticed a two girls trying to take discreet snaps of me. And I started crying real hard with laughter because no one in their circle is going to make me out. Like, honey the only editorial I’ve done was photographed by my husband and spread on my blog for free. Put that phone down. LMAO.

Solange Knowles was my #inspo for this look. She does solid colours in suits like no one else. So essentially me and Solo are #twinning right now. Mac’s Ruby Woo lipstick made me feel like a complete minx ;)

Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend.

#BYEFelicias :)

Steal Her Style: Ashley Madekwe’s SELF-PORTRAIT GINGHAM PRINTED GABARDINE Ensemble – 20th Century Fox Comic-Con

Happy new week folks! My favourite way to fight away my #MondayBlues is to check out a few outfit inspirations from my favourite red carpet steppers. Ashley Madekwe attended the 20th Century Fox Comic-Con party in San Diego and looked polished as expected in £110 Self-Portrait Comic Con Gingham Print Garbadine Trousers paired with a matching £85 gingham print top by Self-Portrait.

Stuart Weitzman black nudist sandals finished her look. She looks absolutely lovely! I also like how she made it look like a jumpsuit!

It’s classic Madekwe and I love it. Do you?

Red Carpet Review: The 2015 ESPYS Awards

The 2015 ESPYS Awards took place last night and I witnessed a lot of sparkly and metallic looks. I’m sure the glittery trend will catch on this summer 2015. But first let’s spy the looks from the night:

Kylie Jenner went bold in a gold-toned metallic fishtail gown. Hot!

Ciara and her boo Russell Wilson came to slay. The high slit ombre dress is not very original but darn it, Cece looks gooood!

Kendall Jenner looked ravishing in a sheer black gown.

Brit bombshell Melanie Brown looked red hot in a midi dress.

Honoree Caitlyn Jenner accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in a white wrap dress.

Rocsi Diaz looked pretty in a navy sequin dress.

Glad to see Rachel McAdams was a fan of my Redd outfit :) Love this!

Halle Berry looked hot in a sheer mini dress with a pep hem leather detail.

Model Hannah Davis looked stunning in a mini sequin dress.

Sparkly was the order of the night. Britney Spears wore a fringe mini version.

Bleona Qereti showed some curves in a banging glittery mini dress.

Stephanie Bauer wore a floral applique slit skirt.

Christen Press looked pretty in a black cut out dress.

Any look catch your eye? Let us know who your faves are!

I love Kendall, Rachel McAdams (hello red suit!!), Kylie Jenner ;)

skinny white friend 3a

I normally don’t go for very girly girl tops but this one was ultra pretty! I love the back design. It’s shaped like a butterfly. I just kept flapping my arms around in it ;)

You see these white jeans, they are the white version of my perfect skinny denim. And they are as lovely. The only thing about them is they are white. And I am clumsy. Like I drop EVERY BLEEPING THING. The more I concentrate on not making a mess, the worse it gets…

I can’t trust myself with whites. Like if it’s not makeup, it’s wine. Or food. Or red palm oil. And any West African can assure you that getting palm oil on anything is a major F**K UP :/

I managed to get a bit of liquid foundation on these by the end of the day but I could have done worse, so…clap for me. LOL.

PS: For those who asked about the sizing of these jeans. They are true to size. I’m wearing a UK 8 / US 4.

Have a great weekend booos!

black leather 7

Finally I got to wear my ‘Bloggers Love’ lace up heels which I featured a couple weeks ago in a style rant. Yes, after everyone commented on how cute they looked, I fell in love with them. LOL. Yes, I’m one of those people who when shopping will pick something out, try to decide for ages if I really like it. Finally decide I don’t love it, replace it on the rack and just as I’m about to walk away another girl (who probably has been waiting for me to drop the item) grabs it. Then I go, ‘Sorry, I’m getting that.’ Funny how you suddenly want something once someone else wants it.

I did that once in TKMaxx. Geez. It took this girl literally FOREVER to decide she wasn’t buying a bag I had spied her trying. I wanted it so badly. And she knew it. Hahahaha. We went around for one bleeping hour. Never have I aimlessly roamed around all the floors of TKMaxx like I did on that fateful day.The fashion gods were not smiling on me.

But, alas! She relented. I had out-waited her. When she thought I was gone, she dropped the bag and left the shop. Probably to find a cash machine or something. Too bad. Because I swooped in and claimed my prize before she was even out the door. Hahahaha. This is so pathetic. She probably didn’t even notice me. But I’m crazy and I had to create a scenario out of it in my head. I could have sworn she side-eyed me at one point… Have you had any crazy shopping experiences? Share!

I fell in love with this dress because it looked like a simple white blouse and leather skirt combo. It’s essentially a two in one piece. In my favourite classic colours. It was also on sale. Mango for the win.

God bless your weekend xx

linen 1a

As soon as I stumbled upon this olive linen jacket, I was in love. It’s the perfect jacket for the crappy English summer. Thick enough to keep you warm and light enough not to make you uncomfortably hot and sweaty. Plus this camo olive colour is just a winner. As I guessed, the jacket sold out instantly and I can’t find the link on the H&M site any more :/

It’s always fun to pair similar shades together. This olive jacket and camo jeans seemed like the perfect marriage.

I’m the type to always have a pair of spare flats in my bag and sometimes a mini cross-body bag isn’t effective on a night out. That’s where my large purse comes in handy. This furry piece of accessory may look harmless but I tell you she’s not. Here’s a list of things she’s been known to contain all at once on a night out.

DSLR camera body and lens, piles and piles of makeup, blotting tissues, mini tester fragrances, deodorant, a hair brush (sometimes the wind plays too much), a pair of flat shoes, a wallet, two phones, compact mirror, earphones, phone charger, chewing gum, pens, hair pins, scarf, hand cream… (Who else carries too much trash that they obviously need around???)

Essentially, she’s a weapon.

Oh, and meet the camo version of my perfect skinny jeans previously featured in white and denim.

I was so tempted to call this post ‘Blue Ivy’, just for the traffic of it. Haha. But nah, I’m pretty sane today so Baby blue it is.

Isn’t sky blue or baby blue one of colours that only a few select people can pull off? And I feel that’s because everyone steers clear off soft blue tones. I saw this periwinkle suit at Dorothy Perkins and decided it was going to be my first baby blue suit. It was on a sale so I was felt even further encouraged to give this a go. Results: FANTABULOUS!

Unfortunately I wore this on a rainy day to an art gallery whicg really is only a few minutes from our flat. (The only I overdressed was because I had plans of posing later ;) ).

I tried real hard and managed to keep away from a bright lip colour because frankly I couldn’t think of a lipstick that wouldn’t clash with this suit.

Are there any colours that you wouldn’t go near?? Tell us!

ankara print maxi skirt

Do you usually buy stuff and end up not wearing them because you’re scared of ruining them? Or wearing and tearing them quicker? This African print maxi skirt is one of those items in my closet. Hard to believe it’s my first time wearing it after a year.

It was gifted to me by my best friend, sister and makeup artist extraordinare Sandra Ekukole. Check out her ig @bihyouty. She asked for my measurements one day and asked me what I wanted sewn and I said a skirt that would swallow me up! In a couple of days, a local tailor had whipped up this beauty. When I received it I was overjoyed. It fit perfectly, it felt luxe, it was the perfect length and the skirt had the exact fullness I was hoping for.

It was so massive yet fitted, I felt like a princess. Everyone wanted to know where I got it from. I got so many compliments. It almost went to my head I tell ya :/

Most of my ankara wear has been gifted to me. Probably because, there are only a few dressmakers abroad that can sew as well as our seamstresses back home. Unfortunately, after being bitten once I am sceptical about trying out some of the IG and Etsy boutiques who flaunt gallant designs and boast of faultless embroidering skills… I feel safer ordering from back home. Even high end designer brands have jumped on the ankara bandwagon. And some of the prices they charge for African pieces is simply extortionist and unfair. I’m all about supporting independent boutiques so, If you know a top notch tailor in the UK though, hit me up below!

I can’t wait to style this over and over! Are you a repeat offender like me?

Took these pictures over a month ago and forgot about them. Was scrolling through my archives when I spotted these and went hold up…HOLLUP! How bendy was I on that day? Like, I couldn’t stand straight in a single picture. This is what you have to resort to when even the squat challenge is not your friend. Hahaha.

On a more serious note guys, I need your help. I got some amazing recommendations from my photography post. After much research, I have narrowed my options down to two Canon lenses. The Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM prime lens or the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro USM Lens.

I’m a little bit more drawn towards the macro lens as I already the much cheaper prime 50mm 1.8 lens. Plus macro produces sharper images even though it’s not as ideal for portrait shots as the prime lens.

I own the grandmother of all bodies, the 500D :/

Help! What’s the best lens for fashion blogging? Chip in with your tips!

I just want bomb quality.

I will be sharing my holiday photos of the lens I finally get if you’re still trying to get one yourself.

laser cut white dress slip

I went to a vintage fair two weeks ago and this bag was the only thing I got. The fur feels super soft and this mini bag reminded me so much of the Philip Lim Beige Ryder Antelope bag :)

What are you doing this weekend? I will be rewarding myself with a fat plate of pasta. A friend told me about his 67-day carb-free diet and how when you hit the 67th day you feel so good and free that you won’t even be missing carbs in your meals. As you all know, carbs are my life (can you tell?) and I had a million and one questions…

But what will I have with my eggs and bacon? And every time, he had an answer. Broccoli.

But I also love a wrap sandwich… Lettuce is good substitute.

How am I ever going to enjoy a good beef/pork stir fry without rice? Mashed boiled carrots will do!

Is couscous a carb…? Yes.

Dear Lord. How did you manage to make all of my favourite things fall under the carbs? Tell me, how did that happen? Like couldn’t you just make ice-cream a veg or something?

So I hopped on this carb-free train and lasted for all of one day. I had a soup with large carrot chunks and chopped potatoes. Carbs I know. But they were so tiny and I barely chewed on them…

Needless to say I didn’t last. Not only does, picking up a slice of toast come naturally to me but my hubby is on a high-calorie protein diet which totally conflicts my goals! Lol. Like he chumps down everything and I can’t help but be supportive… ;) Hahaha.

Are you good at dieting? How do you do it?

PS: Not complaining about my weight. I just love to try out different lifestyles. I try to hit the gym at least twice-thrice a week. (Must get Claire Sulmers’ toned legs!).

PSS: I added some bronze highlights to my hair, can you dig it??!

What’s your Thursday looking like people? Mine is looking very green, red and yellow. Yep, those are the colours from my flag ;) When I started blogging, a lot of people didn’t know I was a Cameroonian. I am proud of how far we’ve come when it comes to blogging and I thought this would be a fun feature to fill up Thursday evenings on my blog. Get ready to discover style the Camer way! The first feature is the fabulous Olivia as her blog title depicts:

Her distressed jeans collection is enviable.

Her closet boasts of staple wardrobe must haves like classic bags and all around heels.

And she’s got a thing for floppy hats.

She basically killed it! What do you think of Olivia’s style people?

Visit her blog and Instagram for more.

Are you a Cameroonian and have a blog? Let’s hear it! Email artbecomesyou@yahoo.com with your details and you could be next week’s feature!

lace up office flats a

One good thing about being on holiday is that for photo-holics like myself, you get to snap a tonne of pictures that you can always keep and use later on rainy days. The downside, is going through all of these backlog of photos. It’s just hours of sifting through random, blurry, good and bad shots…

I managed to filter through a few shots from two days ago when we stepped out to visit the Alicante Plaza Del Mar mall. The weather was crazy hot so I flashed my pins (legs) as always.

All we’ve booen doing is walk, eat, swim and sleep. So I’ve had the chance to sample all of my favourite flats. especially these red suede lace up flats. Love them!

We leave tomorrow so I can’t stay on for longer! Gotta make the most of our last few rays of sunshine before we’re pelted with familiar English showers tomorrow :/

I wore this camo linen blend jacket previously here. When did I wear it better? I think I prefer this dress down version ;)

Kat Graham looked super fun, flirty and girly at the Jeremy Scott Spring 2016 during New York Fashion Week show in a Moschino striped rainbow dress with embellished jewelled straps. Her look was topped off by a hot blonde bob, a red satin Moschino purse and nude Christian Louboutin pumps. She caught my eye with all that colour and I am digging it! It was probably fashioned with the leftover fabric from Joseph’s coat of many colours. I would so wear this dress. Would you?

Perez Hilton and Serayah joined her front row in equally snazzy Moschino ‘fits.

Although this looks like a dress, it’s really a £662 Asymmetric colour block skirt   and  a £588 Fausto Puglisi long sleeve shirt paired together. Giuseppe Zanotti black sandals finished off her look.

When summer is fading away and you realise you haven’t worn some notable pink items from your wardrobe yet…

This is the result.

I thought it was a really a good idea at the time to go full on pink monochrome on everyone. I was like it’s GONNA HAVE TO BE pink on pink ON PINK…

But have you ever worn something then looked back at it a week later and go, ‘How completely mad was I? What was I thinking?’

This is one of those moments. I saved this post and opened it a few days later and immediately went woah. First of all, this is going to have to have with some of sort of photosensitivity epileptic warning. Monochrome so strong, it almost blinded me.

Like, how much pink is TOO MUCH pink? You tell me. ‘Cause apparently, I am still learning and don’t know where to draw the line at all. Pretty sure I donned my pink lace panties set that day too. SMH.

Personal style is a constant growth journey. I incorporate/drop new style habits daily. Have you recently had a fashion faux moment? Spill!

sheer lace black jumpsuit a

Chilly enough that you need to cover up but not so chilly that you can’t wear sheer clothes…

This is the perfect weather for knee high boots and short dresses or cami dresses, duster coats and cool ankle booties and I’m loving it. If only Autumn stayed this way throughout. When layering can STILL be fun.

One thing I learnt wearing sheer trousers for the first time: Always check the underpants!

These jumpsuit was sold as part of the premium range at H&M. It looked so good in store that I had to have it. It comes equipped with black under short/pants. Absolutely love the front wrap detail. I had to use a pin to close the deep v neck though. It is a full deep v neck and I had so much much on display it might as well been the window to my soul. I had to pin that V neck up!

I mean it was premium and all but I didn’t expect H&M to deliver such a top quality garment. The lace feels lush. I’ll definitely be wearing this a good few more times. I was feeling myself so much that day and took so many selfies that we almost lost our location. Hahaha! Security lady stepped out and was like, that’s enough! You can’t be taking no more photos here. We had to calm her down and read her our rights because my beloved blog was at stake and I wasn’t having it : /

I was so skipping around so much (as always) the shorts went off in their own direction. I only noticed when I looked back at these pictures…
