This beautiful apricot colourblock cardigan from Sheinside has come in rather handy.

I love it to bits. Perfect for months like these when you leave your house thinking; ‘Ooooh, it’s the start of Spring,’ and then it snowing by midday.

Major WELP.

I was also in this same frame of mind when I decided it would be a good idea to get a salon-quality blow-dry and cut at Francesco Hair Salon (who by the way do Afro hair brilliantly!) because my hair was begging for it.

It was my first flat iron since I went natural 2 years ago. Needless to say it lasted a few hours. And to be fair I was feeling the straight hair. Y’all know nappy hair will snap right back into position at the slightest drop of water… :(

What I AM feeling though is the smoothness. As big as my hair looks now, it feels smoother than a baby’s bottom. There’s not a knot or tangle in sight. My twist outs have been seamless. I could get used to this. How come I can’t et my hair to feel like this at home? DARN.

I don’t want to get used to blow-drying but it was good while it lasted. I need alternatives to this.

My dislike for belts has reinforced my fondness for tie or knotted trousers. Lavish Alice is a up and coming fashion brand that is absolutely breaking the rules. They put out some darn stylish trousers and when I stumbled on this oyster coloured pair, it was a total swoon moment. If you’re into tailored trousers that offer something a little extra in the style department, you should definitely check out Lavish Alice.

Tailored trousers and ribbed striped jumpers have been my uniform all winter. Yesterday felt like the first day of Spring and that got my whole day so LIT. I can’t wait to share my first day of Spring outfit :) It’s taken me a while to adjust to my new schedule that I’m actually blogging on my lunch break at work as I demolish a plate of chilli and rice. At work certain sites, like online retailers and non-work email accounts (Yahoo), are blocked so I’m not able to link to what I’m wearing. Sigh. Imma just have to continue retail therapy on my mobile using my PERSONAL DATA. Not on.

On that note, have yourselves a fantastic week!

wedding-ring-versus-engagement-ring

Knowing the characteristics to a perfect engagement ring is crucial to winning your woman over. You have already won her heart so you don’t need to worry about that. Choosing the perfect engagement ring however is a big responsibility and if done well it can leave a lasting impression on your future wife.

There are some essential things to consider however when weighing up the various options in the engagement ring buying process. For example, her personal style is a huge part of that. Thinking what makes your special one tick and about how they express their personality through what they wear is a big part of it.

When checking out unique engagement rings in Brisbane’s CBD, you can tap into a goldmine of beautiful hand-crafted designs that cater to a range of styles. As a ring is the symbol of your love and commitment to one another you will want to get it right. Going to the right supplier is a big part of choosing correctly.

engagement-rings-on-black-finger-dkvq-600x600

What are some of the qualities of the perfect engagement ring however? Is there such a thing? Read these 4 ways of spotting the winning ring so you can surprise the woman you love:

  • Choose the metal wisely

The metal is essentially what makes up the ring itself therefore it’s a very important aspect of the overall design and finish it has. There are a variety of metals you can choose from and the Ringleaders in Brisbane offers a great selection.

From platinum to gold and shades of rose, you can choose a metal that reflects your partner’s personal style. If your fiancé has sensitive skin for example, it may be wise to choose a hypoallergenic material that doesn’t cause any reaction. This is looking at the bigger picture and is guaranteed to help you choose the best ring possible!

  • Picking the perfect stone

The next big thing is the stone, often the centrepiece of the engagement ring. Looking at loose stones is a great way to get an idea of how the finished ring will look and give you a good idea of the cost too.  With the choice of diamonds and precious gems available, you will have to consider a number of facts from size, cuts, clarity and the type of stones available. Going to a reputable store such as Ringleaders in Brisbane is highly recommended to choose well and responsibly too

wedding-ring-styles-on-hand-10

  • Developing your knowledge of what makes a diamond beautiful

As we mentioned briefly above, considering the 4 C’s of buying a diamond comes down to its colour, clarity, cut and carat. When you put these together, you will be able to search for the highest quality grade of diamond to dazzle your fiancé with.

  • Know which shape makes your fiancés heart jump

Discovering the perfect shape is a key part of choosing the perfect ring. For example, there are plenty of shapes that make a diamond unique. It can be round, radiant or in a princess shape just to name a few. So do some digging and discover what shape she is in love with as this element will mainly be down to personal taste.

As you can see there are many factors that make up the perfect engagement ring and following the above points can really help you choose ‘the one’.

Yasss, my bff Blake Lively will be my bump style inspiration. As soon as I heard she was pregnant too, I just brought out my pen and notebook and she hasn’t disappointed even once. Obviously. I love this girl.

She stormed the BFG red carpet at Cannes in a custom Atelier Versace beaded one shoulder gown. Metallic strappy heel sandals and diamond drop earrings accessorized her red carpet look. This is how you do it. This dress is hugging her curves in all the right places and she’s serving second trimester glow realness. Sexy done with the right level of taste.

Sadly not everyone can afford custom Versace gowns but I found a few similar styles online.

missguided all red outfit asos cigarette trousers a

So I haven’t taken any outfit shots since my Birthday Blessings post… yes I’m still down with a case of baby sickness. But guess what, it’s definitely not as bad as the very early days so I’ll definitely be back to full time blogging by June hopefully (God please I’m begging you…).

I’ll have to do a bump update post regularly where I can talk about how I’ve been craving ice cubes and icy cold water… Also I really, really, REALLY fancy a lot of Cameroonian dishes I don’t even have access. I must be getting well because I’m so damn hungry all the damn time. But for the most hard to find/cook dishes. I’m still too nauseated to cook and Mathew….well he reckons he’s a Ndole expert now. Is this a risk I’m willing to take? Dear Lord, look at my food cravings list:  Kwakoko bible, mbanga soup, koki corn, ekwang, garri and okro, sese plantains, ndole and miondo, bobolo and groundnut paste, fup-fup. Did I mention ekwang? I swear I’ve had dreams about these dishes. Hahahaha. I can’t deal with this. Wish I was back home…😦

Meanwhile I found some throwback photos I can share…

I took these photos on the pier back in February when we went away to Brighton for our 2nd wedding anniversary. If you love to snoop around vintage shops like me, you’ll find Brighton euphoric.

I was feeling red on red on red that day. Also that day my blowout was prospering so I generally was feeling funky and fresh hahaha.

I was on a mission and me and the colour red were both feeling each other that day😉

Have a fruitful weekend and happy National Day to my country  #Team237!

kewl shop pink bandage dress a

You know a bandage dress is a keeper when it smooths all your bloating away…

When The Kewl Shop asked me to pick a dress off their bandage collection, I was spoilt for choice! They seriously have the most amazing bandage bodycon dresses. Even if you think bandage dresses are not your thing, I swear you’ll love these.

Of course I had to pick this nude pink off shoulder dress.  My obsession with pink has got to stop. As you can see, I went nude pink from head to toe😉

I was 6 weeks pregnant when I wore this and I was very sceptical about looking extremely bloated and plump. But I was in for a shock. It gave my expanding body new dimension! I felt amazing. I was shocked at how good it looked especially because I felt super bloated in the early weeks of pregnancy and not sexy at all. The quality of these Kewl bandage dresses is worth raving about. I’ll definitely be wearing it over and over again.

This was my first bandage dress experience and I was pleasantly surprised. I was also worried about feeling tight and uncomfortable in this bandage dress. Nope. None of that. It slipped on like magic and was the most comfortable dress ever and I’m looking at purchasing a few more colours of these.

The Kewl Shop is your one stop shop for fashionable party wear and they make the sexiest bandage dresses.

orange red jumpsuit outfit of the day a

Wearing this jumpsuit before I can’t zip into it any more…

Long time no post ABYers. I swear I had no idea this pregnancy would take this much out of me. But if sacrificing my creative outlet for a few months is what this baby needs to stay healthy then I’m here for the long haul. Taking one day at a time…:)

I’ve been looking for a bomb red jumpsuit for  a while now and when I found this I shrieked ‘YASSSS!’. Thing is, it looks red on the website but upon receiving it I feel it’s more of a very deep blood orange. Like almost red but definitely with tangerine hues. I do love orange as it’s flattering on dark skin so I was not very disappointed. Plus this is a super summery colour.

On the plus side, if you’re looking for a flattering one piece this jumpsuit might just be it. I mean it completely flatters my figure and I can’t even see my bump here. Like damn, where did it go?!

Currently at 22 weeks. Last week I felt gooood and I wanted to to look as good as I felt. I whipped out my Anastasia Beverly Hills Self Made eye shadow palette and the shade ‘Deep Purple’ felt like such a good contrast to this bright jumpsuit. Whatcha think?

These Office Betty mesh premium heels are such a classic . They won’t go out of style will work with literally anything. I got them over a year ago for £96 and unfortunately they’ve sold out:( But Kurt Geiger has a very similar pair so go grab them if you love this style.

BUMP UPDATE will be in my next post as a lot has happened since my last post. For example, we found out the baby’s sex. Whoop whoop!!! Let’s see what your guesses are😉

Happy blessed month of July. xx

How to display great fashion sense when travelling

$
0
0

Gigi Hadid and Yolanda Foster Out in NYC

Summer is here and a good percentage of us are planning a well-deserved getaway to somewhere nice and hot. Comfort is key whilst travelling but as fashionistas we always want to find the right balance between comfort with sacrificing our fashion flairs.

How to maintain a great sense of fashion whilst travelling? Read on to find out!

Coco Chanel once said: ‘Fashion fades, only style remains the same.’ How right she was but how easy it is to forget about style when heading on holiday, especially with bags, tickets, itineraries, gadgets and all sorts of other necessities required to make it to our destination. Having said that, there’s a lot to be admired about the woman who looks good while waiting in line at a check-in desk, in particular that she clearly respects the glamour that travel used to, and still should, bring.

The type of travel should be seriously considered when packing for a trip, especially if it’s on a cruise. People who have been lucky enough to bag themselves one of the many cruise deals out there will need to contemplate factors including ship dress codes and temperature differences between homeports and ports of call to ensure they’re ready for whatever their holiday adventure brings.

By following the tips below, any traveller should be fully prepared and looking effortlessly stylish when it’s time to disembark their plane, train or ship.

Back to basics

The majority of the clothes you pack should be basic rather than statement pieces. Dark jeans, a black skirt, a little black dress, a sundress, a few blouses, shorts or a warm coat (depending on climate) can all be mixed and matched. By having a basic stock of essentials that can be paired and combined when needed you’ll be ready for any occasion.

airport-outfit-1-1443716443

Layers

The key to dressing outfits up or down is layering. A little black dress might be perfect for a night out but it can be made more day-appropriate when a cardigan is worn over it. Conversely jeans and a blouse can be brought to life with a scarf, shawl or a colourful jacket.

3e4d7d9a5541f2b5d759a90af991652f

Accessories

Jewellery doesn’t take up much room and it can make all the difference to an outfit and keeping accessories simple ensures they’ll be able to embellish just about any outfit. For instance, studs and a pretty pendant can go either casual or dressy and a bangle or two can be worn for more elegant occasions. Plus, the less you bring with you the more likely you are to pick up a souvenir while you’re away to incorporate local style into your look as well as having a memento!

EXCLUSIVE: *PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE RATES APPLY* *NO WEB UNTIL 11.30PM PST, JUNE 20* A swimsuit clad Beyonce and shirtless Jay Z make a splash on their Hawaiian getaway.

While many travellers find that packing for a trip can be a hassle it doesn’t have to be, and packing light can also be good economics as many airlines are now charging fees for checked baggage. But with a little consideration about what goes in your suitcase, you can save time and money, both of which would be better spent on what really counts: enjoying your trip!

How To Steal The Show On The Red Carpet: Learning from the Best

$

1430798239_beyonce-knowles-zoom

Whether you’re walking down an actual red carpet or just attending an important event, date or meeting, there are moments in your life when you are going to want to steal the spotlight – for all the right reasons!

We’re looking at five celebs who have been on point with their outfit choices, not because they have been shocking or outrageous, but because they have made perfect decisions for the occasion. Let’s take inspiration from these ladies, here to prove that making a truly great impression is not about going all out but about careful, stylish choices.

Serena Williams

One of the fiercest tennis players on the planet, with a record breaking 22 Grand Slam titles to her name, Serena Williams is not to be messed with on the courts. She’s also a total fitty on the red carpet!

Boby shamers have tried to put our lady Williams down by saying that her figure looks too masculine. We are not quite sure what they are looking at as she consistently looks fantastic with her strong, athletic figure. She plays to her strengths and weaknesses when it comes to fashion. At the 2016 Wimbledon Winners Ball, she chose a full length gown with a bedazzled bodice, showing off her perfectly toned arms. She kept her hair loose and had a shimmering makeup palette, keeping her look soft and feminine.

If you want to make an impression like Serena, get to know your body and understand what suits your shape and particularities. We all have beautifully different bodies – keep it classy ladies and don’t let the body shamers make you feel bad for being daring and gorgeous.

serena-williams-vanity-fair-party-oscars-2015-academy-awards-640x985

Liv Boeree

We’ll forgive you if you haven’t heard of Liv Boeree, but trust us – she’s a queen! Like Serena, she is bossing it in a male-dominated arena as she is one of the most successful poker players in the world. She has racked up over $2,000,000 in live tournament earnings, playing against both men and women and killing it. Her success has earned her a spot in Team PokerStars, a team of the best of the best of poker pros sponsored by a popular online poker provider.

When she’s playing in poker tournaments she is usually very casual, which is totally appropriate in this setting, she’s focused on her game and not what she looks like. Put her on the red carpet, however, and the lady pulls out all the stops.

We spotted her at the World War Z premier and she totally killed it with her outfit. Her simple black dress with a daring neckline was appropriately sexy – exactly right for this occasion while her simple makeup complemented the choice of dress.

If you want to make an impression like Liv, understand the event you are going to. There’s a dress code for work and one for play, find out what yours is and how you fit comfortably into it. Also, be confident: Liv certainly wasn’t the most recognizable celeb on that red carpet, walked by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, but her elegance and confidence shined through nevertheless.

26 year old Australian actress Mia Wasikowska is the star of the recent Alice in Wonderland films, and she broke the mold recently by skipping the hot ticket at Cannes to attend the premiere of “Alice Through the Looking Glass” in London last May.

Mia has very pale skin and is known for her fresh-faced look. For the premiere she chose a gorgeous Prada gown with black and green sequins. Her hair is sleeked back to show off her face, and her makeup natural. This is definitely a case of less is more for someone who has fairly subtle looks.

If you want to make an impression like Mia, be comfortable in your own skin. Whether you have pale or dark skin, own it and be proud of it. Some complexions can take a lot of color and accessories, others can’t. To really stand out you’ll understand where your limits lie.

Lupita Nyongo’o

Lupita Nyong’o is another incredibly powerful woman who knows how to dress to make an impression at every occasion. This lady is a brilliant actress, filmmaker, she has a Master’s degree from Yale and speaks five different languages – yep, she’s pretty amazing.

At the most recent Tony Awards, Nyong’o and her fellow cast members from “Eclipsed”, the first ever show to be nominated at the awards to be written and directed exclusively by black women, stole the red carpet. Nyong’o is blessed with a goregous figure, perfect complexion and cheek bones to die for – and she knows how to work them all! Her dress was like a textured, colored wonderland!

If you want to make an impression like Nyong’o, remember that sometimes it pays to make a bold move, just make sure you’ve got the confidence to pull it off. Don’t be afraid to go with your personal choice of attire!

Beyonce

We’ve left Queen B last. As she’s such an obvious choice, we wanted to give the other ladies a chance to shine first. However, it is a fact that Beyonce knows how to work her style to make sure she’s making the right impression at the right time.

She’s had quite a bit of practice, as this lady has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and makes it to all of the best parties. Take a look at her at the Met Gala get up, where she’s wearing wearing a Latex Givenchy bodycon gown with strategically placed sequins and impressive shoulders. You know that not many people can make that work, but Queen B certainly does.

If you want to make an impression like Beyonce, it’s going to be tough! We think Beyonce’s appeal is that she knows who she is as a woman and she’s able to adapt her style to suit her current mood. She’s not tied down to one look and she’s prepared to push preconceptions. Allow yourself to vary your looks: you may know that you look great in that perfect black gown, but you don’t want to be boring or predictable. Be bold and diversify your look according to the occasion, the theme and even your mood and you’re sure to make a lasting impression.

beyonce-met-gala-gown-hq

What all of these ladies have in common is that they are strong, independent and fabulous at what they do. They make fashion choices that enhance their natural and inner beauty. Yes, they are making a statement on the red carpet, but it’s not sensationalist or too showy. We can all borrow a page from these Queens’ books to help us stand out, whether it’s understanding your body or learning to be bold. Be inspired, ladies, and good luck!

Rita Ora nailed the perfect monochromatic combination whilst on a day out in New York City. Her style is usually hit and miss sometimes (more hits) but this ensemble just gave me the right balance of yellow (which is head to toe, obviously…duh) without looking like Big Bird.

Her Escada Fall 2016 Yellow Cashmere Cropped Sweater and matching High-Waisted Pencil Trousers paired with matching canary yellow pumps is everything. You all know I have a thing for yellow so I’m so here for this. I need to recreate this look pronto, once I find fitting alternatives! These £180 Escada Tiberla Pants look very similar to Rita’s.

This dress has been sitting in my closet for a while. Luckily I tried it on last week…and it quickly became Mission: Fit Into That Dress after I realised it was just on the cusp of being too tight for me. Mathew has a new role around the house these days. Zipping me into dresses. Hahahaha. This dress was one of them. Oh man. All of my favourite dresses are just bailing out on me.

As of this week I officially cannot zip myself into this dress. Even with the help of a two extra people. SNIFF SNIFF. It amazes me as well much you grow in a week. I thought it would take me a few months to fill out but NOPE. Every week something that I’ve only worn the previous week won’t fit me. So I’ve started to sort out my outfit by way of items that I feel will be too small before I get around to even wearing them.

I bought this lovely green wrap dress from Topshop in January and I’ve just been waiting for the summer to unveil it. It’s a rich green and the fabric is lush. It is gorgeous I tell you. I tried it on the other day and guess what? I can’t even wrap it around me. Hahahahahaha! I laughed out real loud. This is so cruel. I was so prepared to make everyone green with envy but Mother Nature had other plans of her own. She’s probably sniggering somewhere and rubbing her palms together in a victory gesture because yep, she won.

They don’t calculate pregnancy in weeks for nothing. A lot of the big changes happen weekly. So I’ve got a new mantra: Making the most of every memorable moment one week at a time.

PS: I’m also wearing marathon-friendly kitten heels guys. Yes, marathon-friendly because I could probably walk a marathon in these. They are so comfortable. I didn’t change into flats for even a minute. I usually hate low heels because I love feeling tall but these are just BOMB. Maybe I  should invest in more fashionable kitten heels.

Hope your weekend is filled with memorable moments:) xo

Including Gigi Hadid, Rita Ora, Kat Graham, Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Kendall Jenner, Keke Palmer and more.

My schedule is getting steadier now and I’m working on blog posts that had been stored in my drafts from months ago. Street style in general and celebrity street style is one of my top sources of inspo so I couldn’t wait to see what everyone’s been wearing these days. Let’s see who wore what yesterday:

Gigi Hadid looked chic in a casual sporty ensemble while out in NYC. Those knit white joggers are everything. She’s such a babe.

I love it when Lady Gaga looks cute and girly and this is one of those times. Her pastel ensemble out in NYC is everything. I want that bag!

So white is always a summer favourite and I couldn’t wait to don my white jumpsuit last week.

Okay…. I’ve been getting a lot of comments about wearing heels during pregnancy.

Thanks for the concern guys but I promise I feel super comfy in them. I wouldn’t dance around and be silly in them if I wasn’t. I promise:)

On a more general note, there’s no rule against donning a pair of comfortable heels when you are pregnant. As long as you are comfortable and feel stable enough when you walk in them, it’s not a big deal. I’ve had so many people suggest I relax with the heels that I actually had to research this and ask my midwife because I assumed it was a medical requirement. It’s SO NOT.

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. Pregnancy is not a disease. Granted your joints do get weaker and are not as stable as they would normally be which is why many women prefer flats while pregnant as there’s a higher risk of falling over. But that is it. As long as you are comfortable, please feel free to wear what you want to in your pregnancy. It’s not even like I run errands in heels. Chile please, lol. I wear heels only for photos or if I’m going to a really dressy event.

Do not let these OOTDs fool you. No blogger lives in heels. Not me anyway. Hehehehe. I switch into flats as as I’m done snapping pictures. Every time someone mentions heels, I’m like where is this coming from???!

So many people tend to follow trends without even truly knowing if it’s beneficial to them or not. Everybody has an opinion and pregnancy is one of those where everybody seems to have one too many.

You can’t use hair removal creams. You can’t get a manicure /pedicure. You can’t get your hair dyed. There are so many misconceptions. I almost threw away my VEET cream but after doing a bit of reading and doing a test on my body, I found out it was totally fine to use it shave my legs.

Ladies, I’m not saying just go ahead and do everything that people warn you against doing. But do your research. Speak to your GP or your midwife. Shaving cream ARE bad for some pregnant women as their skin becomes more sensitive during pregnancy. Mine didn’t so of course I’m going to continue using it.

You can get your nails done if you want to as long as the nail salon is very airy and you’re not purely inhaling chemicals. I was feeling in the dumps last week and after getting my nails and feet done, I felt a lot more better. The only person I felt sorry for was the guy who had to do a pedicure on my swollen ass feet. BWAHAHAHA. Yes, the sun has come up and one bad thing about that is it makes Edema (swollen feet) in pregnancy more severe. My feet looked so bad the only way I could feel happy about them was getting a pretty manicure.

I’ve tried literally EVERYTHING. I sleep with my feet up to reduce the swelling but nah. I wear flip flops all day and still end up looking like a seal😦  Bruh. They ain’t going nowhere. At this point I can only pray for cold weather so my feet can cool off. This is really what I get for laughing at Kim Kardashian when she suffered from the worse case of Edema both times she was pregnant. Hahahahaha.

There goes my #25WeeksPregnant rant. Hope you have an amazing weekend. Stay blessed y’all:)

The double D’s got an upgrade…

Two weeks ago I think I hit the peak of my lower body swelling. This is the most swollen my feet have been since I got pregnant. And of course I thought it would be a brilliant idea to document and capture this very memorable day by dressing up and posing for the blog. Silly me😦 They even look worse on pictures than I’d imagined, Hahahahaha!

Thankfully, the swelling is disappearing partly because it’s getting cooler and we’re starting to get a bit of rain already. The sun is my worst enemy I tell you.

I’m officially entering the 3rd trimester next week and let me tell you, my body is feeling the rewards.

Already I’ve been hit with my first bout of real pain. My joints, pelvis, back and entire body really cry every time I get out of bed or out of a chair. I know this is partly my fault because I’ve not indulged in any form of remote exercise for months now. It’s so embarrassing. I tried to do a few squats last week. It was a struggle but it helped.

I was definitely feeling my worse on this day and the only way I felt better was getting out this fab dress which looks like a Self-Portrait design which I got a few weeks back. It’s such a gorgeous sexy dress. Love the frill hem see-through detail. It’s the perfect summer little black dress. It also made me realise that hey, I’ve swelled MASSIVELY in other parts of my body and not just my legs… Ha! #SwellingInTheRightPlaces. That always lifts my spirits😉

I definitely need to update my lingerie collection as I’m officially an E cup. Bye bye double D’s.

My only question of the day is: Do I get to keep my new perky friends? As I’ve heard, they’re very temporary visitors. So I beset enjoy their company whilst they stick around.

Tips on How to Look Stylish and Elegant in Your Prom Dress

amanda-wyatt-2016-bridal-dresses-pretty-a-line-wedding-dress-illusion-sweetheart-neckline-floral-embroidery-sheer-back-style-ailsa

There’s no denying that prom is one of the most important occasions for teenagers—it’s something they’ll always remember for the rest of their lives. Naturally, everyone would love to look good in their prom dresses. However, let’s not forget that all the preparation and planning for prom can be quite complicated.

Here are some tips for you to avoid that problem:

Tip #1: Choosing the length of your dress

If you’re going to dance all through the night, short prom dresses are perfect. Nothing beats those lovely cocktail dresses with short yet fashionable skirt made of chiffon or tulle—these types offer the right amount of sophistication. Another tip would be to choose to shop at a reliable dress store like the Prom Dress Shop, because they usually offer the most elegant and beautiful designer dresses perfect for this occasion.

cf4599138e771ed0c3523a788407fe69

Tip #2: Make sure the straps are sturdy

If you love to dance, then having strong straps is very important. This would help in securing your dress while you showcase your dancing skill. Aside from that, sturdy straps would also help in keeping your dress look good all the while, boosting your confidence all throughout the night.

A lot would suggest that you opt for one-shoulder and halter dresses because these ones offer the support and coverage ideal for dancing.

c57ca2c57b8d2e7db6c897c1475d6a70

Tip #3: Does it have glamorous accents?

If you want to stand out, it’s ideal for your dress to have sparkle and shine. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to opt for a dress that’s heavily beaded—pick a prom dress that offers the right amount of sparkle perfect for your style.

Trust us, you’ll look splendid as you twirl and the pictures being taken would definitely look beautiful.

371fc1a22c9b38d9394afd595c9955a7

Tip #4: Check what’s under the dress

Just like what has been mentioned earlier, finding the perfect prom dress is already a battle—unless you’re going to look at the dress trends for 2016, then you’ll have an idea of what to wear. Though, aside from that, the right undergarments that you’re going to choose are also equally important as well.

For backless dresses, it’s the perfect opportunity to wear nipple covers or an adhesive bra. What’s the advantage of wearing an adhesive bra? This one provides natural coverage and confidence that it’s going to last all night long. Not just that, they also offer a bit of enhancement to your bosoms and they are ideal for any breast cup size.

Using an adhesive bra is also perfect for dresses with an open back, halter, or strapless ones. However, for those who are in search of something else, then a nipple cover is another alternative that you can consider. These adhesives cover the nipple and offer a ‘’barely there’’ look.

Pay attention to the panties you’re going to wear as well because this could either make or break your overall attire. If you’re going to wear a fitted dress, make sure to wear a seamless panty. Additionally, there’s a wide range of panty options for you to consider; giving you the assurance that it matches with your desired style as well as confidence level.

Don’t forget to check the sizes as well. Choosing an undergarment too small for your size would be unpleasant because it would be showing through your dress—as you’re going to get some bulges.

Tip #5: Choosing a Style

At the prom, it’s better to opt for a conservative style instead of an over-exposed one. We’re not saying that you should be wearing turtleneck and long sleeves, but a little modesty could help.

Tip #6: High Heels or Flats?

If you belong on the shorter side then heels would be ideal in order to stand out. Aside from that, they’ll also give you the assurance that your dress won’t be trailing on the floor. Also, let’s not forget that heels are elegant and available in a wide range of style, that you’ll definitely the pair of heels perfect for your dress.

As for those who are already tall and would love to dance all throughout the night, then flats are more preferable.

When choosing your footwear, it’s important to pay attention to the benefits and disadvantages of each shoe type.

michael-costello-ready-to-wear-spring-2016-3-682x1024

Tip #7: Pick What Looks Good on You

When shopping for a prom dress, look for one that perfectly fits your figure and don’t shop for fads. Through this, you’ll have the guarantee that you’d look better and feel a little more confident while wearing the dress. Although fads are great, know that there are certain styles that are known to be timeless and beautiful.

When you look back to your prom pictures a few years later, it’s better to feel proud with the way you look, not embarrassed because you chose a style that didn’t really look good on you at all.

3-2bvlisco2bnew2bfashion2bblog2bof2bmedoki

Tip #8: Coordinate with Your Dress

As you choose the jewelries and shoes you’re going to wear, it’s important to base your choices on the dress—not just the color of your dress, but the style as well. For instance, a certain kind of jewelry may look good on you, but not with the color or style of your dress. That’s why you should be careful with this as well.

f960e0411c98bceb23612a257492c4d4

Tip #9: Deciding on Your Hair and Makeup

The truth is, you don’t have to hire a professional makeup artist to do your hair and makeup for prom, because you can actually do it yourself at little or no cost at all—if you already have what you need.

You can always try a natural look, and it’s the simplest yet elegant type of makeup because you don’t have to wear a lot of makeup at all—just enough to accentuate your features.

Final Word

No doubt senior high school offers a lot of once-in-a-lifetime moments that you’re going to cherish forever. It doesn’t really matter what style you’re going to choose; what is important is that you feel confident in the dress you’re going to wear. The best way to do that is to prepare for this wonderful event.

Scandal actress and new mama, Kerry Washington looked beautiful  in a Pre-Fall 2017 embroidered dress by Prabal Gurung at the NAACP Image Awards. She kept her makeup and let the interesting details of the dress take spotlight. In love with the bell sleeves but think it looks much better with a belt as styled on the model. Kerry looks beautiful overall.
